Question: I’ve heard some Christians use the phrase “born again.” Although I’ve been going to church most of my life, I’m not really sure what that means. Can you tell me?

Answer: The Lord Jesus Himself was actually the first to use the phrase “born again.” He was talking to a man named Nicodemus who was probably in a situation very similar to yours. Nicodemus was a good “churchgoing” man. In fact, he was a ruler of the Jews. But he realized that despite his religious background, there were some spiritual matters he didn’t fully understand.

Nicodemus was asking Jesus about these things and Jesus replied, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

To understand more fully what Jesus meant, you can look at II Corinthians 5:17. There, the apostle Paul tells us that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Paul knew firsthand what he was talking about. Years before he wrote those words, he had encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus. He had realized that Jesus Christ was indeed the Son of God. And he’d made a once-and-for-all decision to make Him the Lord and Master of his life. At that moment, Paul literally became a new man inside. He was born again by the supernatural power of God into God’s own image. And as the New Testament shows, his life was never the same again.

Unbelievable as it may seem, many good churchgoing people have never had that experience. They have a mental understanding of the Scriptures. They even know that Jesus is the Son of God. Yet their nature has never been changed. They haven’t been born again because they haven’t received Jesus in a personal way – as their very own Savior and as the Lord of their lives.

If you haven’t yet had that experience, today can literally be the beginning of a new life for you. All you have to do is turn to Jesus and say something like this:

Father in heaven, I believe with all my heart that Jesus has been raised from the dead. I believe that You have given Him to me as my personal Savior. And today I receive Him as my gift from You, Father.

I today proclaim that Jesus is my Lord.

Jesus, come into my heart to live forever, I turn my life over to You, and I receive You as Lord and Savior. I believe Your blood has cleansed me of my sins and that I’m a new creature in You. I repent of sin, and I renounce it forever. Amen.

If you’ve never prayed this prayer, I urge you to do it today. You’ll never be the same again.

This gritty drama follows several families living in a city riddled with crime and corruption. As the local church works to bring positive change, it is confronted at every turn by those who desire to keep the city and its people in bondage. Only God knows what it will take to unite the city and bring the powers that be to their knees!

One Event…One Church…One God…The Rally.

Directed by Rick Reyna, The Rally represents the fulfillment of a promise. After years of working in Hollywood with names like Michael Mann and Al Pacino, Reyna received the call into full-time ministry. That calling came with one stipulation: “Someday the Lord will have us make Him a movie.” The Rally is that movie.

More than merely an entertaining film, The Rally is the opportunity for believers worldwide to be part of bringing 1 million souls into the kingdom of God. This Christmas, make plans to watch The Rally, and to share it with friends and loved ones. Visit www.therallymovie.com to find out how you can play a vital role in changing lives through this powerful film, and continue to watch kcm.org for updates.

It’s obedience to Matthew 25: “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world [for] I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (verses 34, 36, 40).

Kenneth Copeland said, “From the time we began this ministry, that scripture…became very alive in me. [Prison outreach] was not the main- stream calling of this ministry, but it’s everyone’s calling to a degree. So every door that was open to us, we stepped through it.”

Over the years, KCM has worked hard to share the power of the blessed life to those behind bars—from supplying books and other resources for chaplains; to donating $250,000 to construct a chapel for inmates in

Texas; to partnering with others like Mike Barber Ministries, an outreach dedicated solely to prison ministry.

In 1995, Barber became the catalyst enabling KCM to broadcast the Eagle Mountain Motorcycle Rally live via satellite to inmates in Texas and 15 other states. In Texas alone, 87 of the 104 state prisons received the satellite broadcast. To more than 150,000 men and women who had access to the broad-

cast, Brother Copeland’s message was clear and strong: “God is for you, not against you!”

“Our ministry to prisoners is just an extension of Kenneth Copeland Ministries because we are Partners together in the work,” Barber said.

Today, Daystar Television Network maintains the prison satellite net- work, installing their own dishes and receivers to feed their Word-filled programming into the prisons. Daystar hopes to expand to nationwide coverage soon.

Meanwhile, KCM receives an average of 21,648 letters a month from inmates and sows more than 300,000 products annually. Each month an average of 3,404 inmates are added to KCM’s mailing list. Robert M., an inmate in Arizona State Prison, recently wrote words that are characteristic of many prisoners:

All your BVOV monthly magazines have inspired me and my family from the very front page and cover to the very last page and closing word! God has spoken directly to my spirit innumerable times. All the other booklets, pamphlets and literature have had the same highly anointed effect upon me! I realize respectfully that your team ministers to millions of people in need daily. Yet, someone took the time to not only read my letter, but to write a response as well. Thank you! As Gloria Copeland says, ‘God can turn it around!’ I believe and know this. What He’s done for [others] He can do for me.

When Kenneth Copeland Ministries proclaims, “We’re here for you!”—we mean we’re here for all our Partners and Friends—no matter who you are, where you live or even what you’ve done. That’s why one of KCM’s most vital outreaches is our prison ministry, which reaches a large community of inmates worldwide.

The most recent edition of the World Prison Population List, published by King’s College London, reports that “over 9 million people are held in penal institutions throughout the world.” The U.S. Department of Justice states that as of June 30, 2008, the U.S. has the highest prison population rate of any country, topping 2.3 million prisoners. That’s “509 sentenced prisoners per 100,000 U.S. residents,” and growing.

While these numbers may be staggering, the individuals they represent are not without hope because each and every day inmates are discovering salvation through Jesus Christ. And KCM and its Partner min- istries are reaching out, providing them with the tools they need to discover who they are in Christ…full of hope and love, living lives of victory, purpose and prosperity—even while behind bars.

As Michael J., an inmate at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Coffield Unit, recently wrote, “God has been here with me opening up my heart, and each day that passes He gives me more and more

wisdom about the Bible. I want to thank you, Gloria and KCM, for all the support and prayers through these hard times…. I got a letter from KCM today, and it brought a big smile to my face…. I must spread the word about our merciful Lord and let people know that if you put your faith in God, all things are possible.”

KCM’s prison outreach began in 1981 through cor- respondence with inmates. Since then, through letters, magazines, complimentary books and audio teachings, and even special victory meetings in prisons, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland have worked diligently to estab- lish and maintain a more personal relationship with inmates. To make sure all who want ministry receive it, the Copelands created a special prison ministry staff dedicated to ensuring every letter, order and prayer request is read and responded to promptly. This can be a warm ray of sunshine, especially to inmates eagerly awaiting a response from someone…anyone.

A few months ago, Mike Barber Ministries brought in Jeremy Pearsons to speak at the Woodman Unit in Gatesville, Texas. With a maximum capacity of 900 women, the room was full as Jeremy preached on being genuine—letting the power of your inward salvation express itself in all you do.

“If there’s glory going on inside, put on glory,” preached Jeremy. “If there’s love going on inside, put on love. If there’s peace going on inside, put that on. Don’t take on an outward expression that doesn’t look like what’s going on inside.”

Sarah Hart Pearsons, Jeremy’s wife, ministered special music. If you would like to view Jeremy’s message at the Woodman Unit visit www.kcm.org.

Thank you, Partners and Friends, for generously giving to outreaches such as the KCM Prison Ministry. You’re sharing “Jesus Is Lord” with the lost each and every day—even to those behind bars!

Kenneth Copeland Ministries receives almost 20,000 letters each month from prisoners. Last year KCM invest over 5,000 different products (books and Bibles) into the lives of inmates.

The Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola is one of the largest maximum security prisons in the United States. It houses over 5,000 men. 85% of these inmates will die within the prison walls. For years Angola was known for being one of the worst prisons in the US. Leaders within the prison system sought change. For the past two years Kenneth Copeland has traveled to Angola to preach the uncompromised word of God.

“…And the greatest revival of all shall be in the prisons of the land. Great ministers of the gospel shall come out of prisons all over this nation. All over this world.” — Prophecy given by Kenneth Copeland at December 25, 1994

The mission of Kenneth Copeland Ministries is to preach the gospel from the top of the world to the bottom and all the way around. Through every available voice, whether in person or by print or electronic media, KCM is taking the good news of Jesus the Anointed One and His Anointing to every nation. And that includes one of the largest segments of American society — the prison population.

KCM’s prison outreach began in 1981 by corresponding with inmates on a personal basis and supporting various aspects of criminal justice ministry. One way Kenneth and Gloria Copeland establish more personal contact with prisoners is through correspondence and books. Although they cannot read every letter personally, they have a prison ministry staff to ensure every letter, order or prayer request is read and responded to promptly. The goal is a quick personal response — something that can be especially important to inmates.

Over the years KCM has made much effort to minister life and peace through the power of the anointing to those behind bars: things like donating $250,000 to construct a 500-seat chapel for inmates in Gatesville, Texas; supplying books and other resources for inmates and chaplains; and visiting inmates to share the Word and give encouragement. One of the most dynamic aspects of KCM’s outreach has been through its association with Mike Barber Ministries, an outreach dedicated solely to prison ministry.

In 1995, Barber became the catalyst enabling KCM to broadcast the Eagle Mountain Motorcycle Rally live via satellite to prisons in Texas and 15 other states. In Texas alone, 87 of the 104 state prisons received the satellite broadcast. To more than 150,000 men and women who had access to the broadcast, Brother Copeland’s message was clear and strong — God is for you, not against you!

“Our ministry to prisons is just an extension of Kenneth Copeland Ministries because we are partners together in the work,” Barber says.

The prison ministry at KCM, which geared up for thousands when contacts from prisoners could be numbered in the hundreds, is now preparing for ministry to tens of thousands. The importance of that preparation continues to be confirmed by the Word of the Lord to His people.
